Residence: Applicants must currently reside in Palestine, or, if residing abroad, must hold a valid Palestinian passport, travel document, or other proof of Palestinian nationality.
Age: Applicants must be born between 1 September 2009 and 1 September 2011. Unfortunately, age criteria are determined by circumstances out of our control; we are unable to make exceptions.
Important Notes
Only applicants meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered.
Each student may submit one application only, through the Palestinian National Committee. Students are only permitted to apply through one National Committee. If a student has applied to another committee this cycle, their application will not be considered.
Applications must include all required signatures (student, guardian, school principal, recommender), where obtainable. Where a signature or document cannot be obtained due to displacement or access restrictions, please note this clearly in the application rather than leaving it incomplete and email the national committee for additional guidance.
Applications are reviewed holistically against UWC's core selection criteria. Shortlisted applicants are then invited to an interview.
Students with additional health, learning, or accessibility needs are encouraged to apply. Please share relevant information in the Health Information section so we can work with the relevant school, if selected, to understand what support may be available.
The National Committee communicates primarily via email and WhatsApp. Applicants and guardians are asked to check both regularly.
All applicants will be notified of the outcome (invitation to interview, nomination, waitlist, or not selected). Given the volume of applications we receive, the Committee is not able to provide individualized feedback on specific scores or decisions.
Selection Process
Students are selected through a competitive, two-stage process:
Application - Applications are reviewed by independent National Committee reviewers, assessed against UWC's core selection criteria.
Interviews - Shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview, conducted in Arabic and/or English, at the applicant's preference. If shortlisted, you will be contacted by email and/or WhatsApp to schedule your interview. Applicants may also be contacted for additional interviews for further consideration, if deemed necessary by the evaluating committee.
Nomination to School
Successful candidates are nominated by the National Committee to a specific UWC school. This nomination is not a final offer of admission and the receiving school makes the final decision after reviewing the nomination documents. Candidates and their guardians may accept or decline the nomination, but cannot request a change of school. If an offer is declined, the place will be offered to another candidate from the waitlist.

More About UWC Schools
United World Colleges (UWC) is a global educational movement comprising 18 schools and colleges around the world, each offering the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in English to a deliberately diverse student body.
UWC brings together students selected on merit and potential from around the world, offering full, partial, and fee-paying places to ensure a socio-economically and culturally diverse community. Alongside academics, UWC places strong emphasis on community service, volunteering, creativity, and athletics, in line with its mission to make education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
Selection into UWC schools is carried out by National Committees, which are a network of volunteers and alumni who are operating in countries around the world, including Palestine.
The National Committee in Palestine
The selection process for UWC in Palestine is conducted by the UWC Palestine National Committee, operating under a Memorandum of Understanding with UWC International. The Committee is composed of Palestinian UWC alumni and volunteers who work on a voluntary basis to select, nominate, and support students throughout their UWC journey. The committee receives annual scholarships from UWC schools to nominate eligible Palestinian students.
The Scholarships
Scholarship coverage is determined individually for each student based on a financial needs assessment conducted jointly by the National Committee and the receiving school. In most cases, tuition, accommodation, and core living expenses are covered by the scholarship, while families are asked to contribute toward travel costs and pocket money where the financial assessment shows they are able to. Where a family cannot cover these additional costs, they may request additional support with supporting documentation. In all cases, families will not be asked to pay more than they would for their child's education at home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to apply through UWC Palestine?
Applicants must hold Palestinian nationality, be within the required age range, and currently live in Palestine. Applicants living abroad may also apply if they hold a valid Palestinian passport, travel document, or other proof of Palestinian nationality. Please see the full Eligibility Criteria for details.
Does the age requirement have any flexibility?
No. Applicants must be born between 1 September 2009 and 1 September 2011. We are unable to make exceptions. If your date of birth falls outside it, we're sorry, but we cannot accept your application this cycle and wish you all the best with your academic journey.
I have dual citizenship. Can I apply?
Yes, as long as one of your nationalities is Palestinian and you meet the other eligibility criteria.
Can I apply through more than one National Committee?
No. Each student may apply through one National Committee only. If you apply through more than one, your applications will not be considered.
I have Palestinian roots, but I have lived my whole life in another country (for example Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, or Egypt). Which National Committee should I apply through?
You should apply through the National Committee of the country where you live. You may be more eligible there, and that committee is better placed to support you. UWC Palestine selects students who live in Palestine, or who hold Palestinian nationality documents if they are abroad or displaced. Having Palestinian origins or family roots alone does not make an applicant eligible through our committee.
I don't have my papers, or I can't access my school or recommenders. Can I still apply?
Yes. We know many applicants have been displaced, lost documents, or lost access to their schools. Missing documents will not automatically disqualify you. There is no need to email the National Committee: simply note in your application what is missing and why, please.
Are the school letter and reference letter required?
Yes. Please email us if you are unable to provide them for any reason and we will work with you.
I have a GPA or average below 90%. Can I apply?
Yes. We look for good academic performance and the potential to succeed in the IB Diploma Programme, and we know that many students' results have been affected by disrupted schooling. If your average is below 90%, or your results don't fully reflect your abilities, you are still encouraged to apply. You can add a short paragraph explaining the challenges you faced, your motivation for UWC, and how you plan to keep growing academically.
Do I need to write my application in English?
No. You may write your application in Arabic or English, or both. Language is not a selection criterion, and you will not be scored on it.
Can I use ChatGPT or other AI tools?
Please don't. Your answers must be in your own words. Applications that use AI to generate answers may be disqualified, and we do check for this. This is your chance to show us who you are, and AI can't do that for you. Can someone help me with my application?
Yes. Friends, family, or teachers can help you, for example by talking through your ideas, reading your draft, or helping you check your writing. Please declare who helped you in the application form. The content and the voice must be yours.
What should I write about?
Be yourself, and be honest. We are not looking for the "perfect" answer or a perfect profile. We want to get to know you: your personality, your experiences, and what matters to you. There is no single kind of UWC student.
How does the selection process work?
It has two stages. First, independent reviewers assess your application against UWC's core selection criteria. Then shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview. Some applicants may be asked for an additional interview if the committee needs more information.
Where will interviews take place?
The whole selection process is online. Interviews are held in Arabic and/or English, whichever you prefer.
How will you contact me?
By email and/or WhatsApp. Please check both regularly, and make sure the contact details in your application are correct.
Will I be told the outcome?
Yes. Every applicant will be notified of the outcome. Because of the number of applications we receive, we are unable to give individual feedback on scores or decisions.
Can I choose which UWC school I attend?
You can tell us in your application if you have a school you're interested in. Placement, however, depends on the places available to the committee and on the school's decision. If you are nominated, you can accept or decline the nomination, but you cannot request a change of school.
Who can I ask?
Email us at info@ps.uwc.org. We are a volunteer-run committee, so please allow a few days for a reply.
How can I learn more before applying?
We encourage you to attend our online info sessions and follow us on social media for updates and tips.
